In theme with yesterday's post about soup, I saw a post on Apartment Therapy's The Kitchn about a soup swap and thought that it sounded like a lovely idea.
I sounds a lot like those cookie exchanges you participate in around the holidays, but with soup. What fun would it be to make one big pot of soup and swap it out for a few containers of other soups that you can keep in your freezer for those busy days that you just don't have time to cook.
Besides the fact that we're in the middle of winter and a bowl of soup is a sure fire way to warm up, this looks like a great (and inexpensive) way to get together with friends, share kitchen tips, recipes old and new, and enjoy some good food with good people. After all, at goodLife {eats}, that's what I'm all about.
During these times where many are struggling financially, soup is a great meal because it typically makes a lot and can stretch small amounts of meat or other expensive ingredients into to something more substantial. With that in mind, there are many meatless soup options as well.
Check out the official Soup Swap website here.
Ever attended a soup swap? Do you want to now? I know I do!
I'm a huge fan of the cookie swap; I've recently done a jam & jelly swap (awesome) but I'd really be down with a soup swap!!!Although not everyone makes great soup, so it would be a little risky.
ReplyDeleteAimée - you are so right. A jam and jelly swap would be the coolest! Loving that idea, thanks!
